List of Service Dog Agencies

service dog agency listFollowing is an alphabetical list of service dog providers in the U.S. and a couple from Canada.

Please help us update the list by adding any organization you know, not here in the comment section below. Thank you!

This is a preliminary attempt to create a solid database of resources for people who hope to apply for service dogs. Soon we will have it searchable by State, Services Provided and so on.

Many agencies have sprung up in the last three to five years and I would like to add them in and would like to include more information on each of these groups.

If you know of a group we missed or have corrections for this list, please add a comment at the end of this post and we will index it ASAP.

Please include: Name, Address, Contact information, Type of Training (DIY, ect…) and client target population (Veterans, Hearing Impaired, Autism….).

Later I hope to include costs, waiting time, and other pertinent information. Thank you! to Maryann Helpern for researching and compiling this initial list.

    Dogs for the Deaf
Phone: (541) 826-9220 or toll free outside of Oregon 1-800-990-3647
Mail: 10175 Wheeler Road, Central Point, Oregon 97502

“Rescuing and training dogs to assist people, enhance lives & provide greater independence is what Dogs for the Deaf is all about.

Dogs for the Deaf rescues dogs for our programs from animal shelters throughout the western United States. After professional training at our southern Oregon facility, the dogs are placed with…

People with a variety of disabilities and challenges including: hearing loss, deafness, and children on the autism spectrum.
Full-time professionals (teachers, physicians, counselors, and licensed therapists) who work with people with various disabilities and challenges.”

  2. says

I know there are more service dog training programs as well as many programs that assist owner/trainers in training. Questions:
    1. Are you recommending these programs? Meaning, do you know they produce well-trained, stable dogs? Do they monitor the dogs’ training and health? What do you know about the quality of these programs?
    2. What criteria did you use to select these particular programs? (recommendations, ongoing positive reputation, something else)

The reason I’m asking these things is this is like making a list of breeders for a particular breed of dog. It could look like recommendations without the person reading the list knowing why these particular programs were selected for the list.

    • admin says

As there are no national standards for service dog training I can’t evaluate any if these. There are standards for trainers but even that is controversial.
I know four if these programs personally and hold them in high regard.
I strongly urge people in need of a dog to make sure the program will meet their needs.
Many of these programs have a 2-3 year waiting list so clients have plenty of time to do their homework.
This list was created because I’m asked weekly where one might apply for a dog.
I’ll add more information down the line as it becomes available.
If there is an agency here you think is of questionable character do let me know and notify the attorney general in that state.
Thanks for your concern. I’ll leave your comments here and ask those reading to use your skepticism as encouragement to look closely and choose wisely.

      • says

Thank you. If you would like, I can send you a list of questions people should ask when making inquiries of any service dog training organization. I also recommend anyone considering a service dog join an online forum that has a culture of high standards of obedience and training to get support and guidance on making those contacts and decisions. If the screening isn’t rigorous in both directions, the resulting tragedies can be expensive and heart wrenching. People need to also understand the care and commitment that go into having a service animal–so many considerations. Here is a good place to start.,55.0.html?PHPSESSID=qubnuf1qb5r577qukvi5egi895

        • Anne Marie Goodman-Piekarczyk says

Thank you so very much for your advise and the url. Also, please do send me the list of questions.Thank you, again!

Lee update as often as we get information in. If there was particularly that you’ve not been able to reach please list them down below and I’ll see if we can either remove them from the list store find out how to contact them. There’s been a wave of new agency spring up because of the need to be a veterans and some of those have washed out quickly.

Perhaps today and tomorrow I can put out another call for information via of our networks on social media and will do our best to update the list.

Many of these agencies are national, so it would Blueview to check in other places even seemingly far away for you because they can also provide dogs and support in your region. Freedom service dogs for example is one of those groups.

  4. sherri dudek says

This list must be REALLY old…I am in NJ and all the NJ and surrounding PA and that Calif one with a jersey site are all assigned new business numbers or out of order…nothing in Jersey area…I would like to know if my dog can be trained to bea psychiatric service dog to know before I get a panic attack, they are so severe sometimes when out in public…or do I need a separate head is getting worse. the fear is overwhelming at times. Haven’t been out of the house with out him because I have no friends .I talk to him because it looks better than talking to myself I am embarrassed to say..if anyone has an idea how to explain this to me. I would appreciate it. What is it with these fake sites where u just buy credentials and they don’t help you or your dog?? please comment so I get your posts and comments thank you.

      • admin says

There are a handful of Facebook group Santa online forums about service dog. Would love to have a list of those. If you have one we need to be happy to put it up.

        • says

The Facebook groups tend to have issues. Many service dog groups do. The most professionally focused online forum is Service Dog Central. With psych service dogs, many people don’t understand the concept of work and task training. Some forums don’t focus on that and it has created some difficulties in blurring the lines between service dogs and emotional support/companion animals. That’s why I would suggest going to a more professionally focused forum. My bias based on my experience over the last 3 years of community backlash about the proliferation of service dogs that are not trained.

          • admin says

One of the things it is prevented us from beginning of movement to address the “fake” service dog issue is some of the hostility we’ve found in the community.
It will be difficult to get the general public to agree if we are intent on one thing each other for other members of our community who may not fall in line with group thinking.
            It saddens me beyond words

          • says

The problems with the service dog community are many, unorganized will be first. Here in Chicago we promote all disabilities and that includes invisible dis. All dogs must be clearly identify able with a vest. Then we work from there

          • admin says

Here in Libertyville we don’t encounter too many other folks with service sucks. The other team that we used to do lectures and events with move to Florida. I know of two other guy dogs in the region and if you vets over toward North Chicago and Waukegan but that’s the run of it

          • says

We do training at malls. We went to Spring Hall mall in W Dundee. We had wheelchairs and non w ch. Security said we could not be in food court. I talked to them and they had to call supervisor for advice. They changed their minds when I suggested calling the W Dundee police to evict us. They were helpful after that

  6. Becky Davidson says

Service Dog Project is listed as being in Ipswich, Maine – but should be Ipswich, Massachusetts.

  7. Kathie Pontikes says

I’m strongly suggesting a short disclaimer at the top of the list stating something similar to “This list is for informational purposes only and is not intended as an endorsement of any one particular service dog organization.

  8. Lisa C says

The Service Dog Project is in Ipswich, Massachusetts, not in Ipswich, Maine. All other info about Service Dog Project appears correct.

PAWS 4 SOLDIERS, INC is a Non Profit 501c3 Organization owned by a Retired Veteran, ran by Veterans for Veterans. P4S is designed for the Veteran and their dog to be trained together. In most cases the Veteran’s own dog can be used to become their personal Service dog or Emotional support dog. P4S provides a ” Family Unity” among the Veterans that come in to the program; family outings, events, cook out and social gatherings. Paws 4 Soldiers, Inc understands the lose of the “Comradery” that the Veteran’s had when they left the service and gives them a “life buddy” to help them in their new journey in life.

Is this list vetted in any way? I train and raise puppies for Guide Dog for the Blind and people ask me for advise on where to get service dogs for Vets, Also – I have been in contact with an organization in Ft Walton Beach Fl. HealingPaws4warriors. They have a face book page and a website if you want to add them to your list.

We now have a new website and more agencies added.

We sent letters out to hundreds of organizations asking them to add themselves to the list by replying to the mail. Many did not.
